ViTrox Academy, our education arm with ViTrox Corporation Berhad recently established ViTrox College in January 2023, with a clear emphasis on providing education that aligns closely with the needs of various industries. At ViTrox College, we aim to provide the next generation of leaders with the technical competencies and ethical principles necessary to foster innovation and make meaningful contributions to the advancement of society and the well-being of humankind.
ViTrox College provides Diploma programmes in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering and Electronic Engineering (Machine Vision). These programmes have received approval from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (“MQA”), allowing the courses to be conducted at ViTrox College starting in January 2023.
In addition, we have integrated work-based learning (“WBL”) into ViTrox college diploma programmes. Students attend lectures a few days a week and spend the rest of their time working alongside engineers and scientists, solving real engineering problems on the premises. This approach helps nurture young talents for a better working world by providing hands-on experience, an essential aspect for future competence. By obtaining diploma programmes with hands-on experience, our students stand a chance to be more capable. We aim to produce high-quality STEM field graduates for the local high-technology ecosystem.
On 10 February 2023, the College was formally inaugurated in the Company of prominent individuals, including the Chief Minister of Penang YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow, Deputy Director of the Department of Skills Development YBhg Ts. Dr Mohd Yusoff bin Abu Bakar, CEO of Penang Science Cluster Dato’ Ooi Peng Ee, our Chairman Dato’ Seri Dr Kelvin Kiew Kwong Sen and our Group CEO and President Mr Chu Jenn Weng.
ViTrox College has also partnered and obtained agreements with Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (“TARUMT”) and University Tunku Abdul Rahman (“UTAR”) to provide a further path through their degree programmes. The memorandum of understanding (“MoU”) was signed on 12 August 2022, at UTAR Kampar Campus, officially sealing the collaboration between UTAR and ViTrox Academy. The MoU primarily facilitates credit transfer from ViTrox Academy’s diploma programmes to UTAR’s undergraduate programmes.
The MoU also aims to facilitate joint projects involving collaborative research, sharing of expertise, joint development of research, and exchange of ideas and facilities among parties, including attachment and mutual visits by staff members to pursue research, curriculum development, and participation in seminars, conferences, and workshops relevant to the industry.
With a foundation built on excellence and a vision aimed at shaping a brighter future, ViTrox College invites all aspiring minds to join us on this journey of academic and professional growth. Together, let's embrace a future where education transcends boundaries and empowers individuals to create positive change in the world.
