The motto “Education is too important to be neglected, even in poverty” inspires us to believe that education is key to improving the standard of living for individuals and communities. Our efforts primarily focus on providing accessible, affordable, and quality education in STEM and the humanities. Additionally, we aim to support underprivileged and deserving students with scholarships, study grants and study assistance.
“We understand that education is a powerful tool that can change lives and transform communities,” said President and Group CEO of ViTrox Corporation Berhad, Chu Jenn Weng.
One of the objectives of ViTrox College is to provide affordable and relevant programmes for all, giving everyone a chance to pursue higher education at the tertiary level. In pursuit of this goal, we offer two (2) types of scholarships that are easily applicable to all students, namely the Merit Scholarship and the Need-Based Scholarship.
“ViTrox is committed to giving back to the community in a meaningful and sustainable way. This investment will give these students an opportunity to receive a quality education, develop the skills they need to succeed in the workforce and make a positive impact on their communities.”
Diploma student Ang comes from a family with a bottom-tier household income, which is also known as a B40 family, in Malaysia.
“Knowing my family situation, I didn’t plan much for my degree study, but more like crossing the bridge when I come to it,” said Ang, whose father is a general handyman doing odd jobs. After receiving the result of the Malaysian Certificate of Education (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia - SPM), Ang entered into the Form Six studies, one of the national pre-university programmes, as it was the most affordable choice for him.
“My SPM result could hardly receive scholarships from other colleges as most institutions only evaluate based on the number of A-grades. ViTrox College considers the overall result, including Bs and Cs, which highly benefit students like me.”
Instead of focusing on and rewarding only A graders, ViTrox’s Merit Scholarship provides equal and fair education opportunities by considering the overall holding results of students. The amount of eligible scholarships will be based on their academic points.
Despite having completed two (2) semesters in Form Six, the 20-year-old decided to enrol in the diploma programme for Mechatronics Engineering after attending ViTrox College Open Day. “Diploma programme is more suitable to my study pace, compared to Form Six,” said Ang, who is now the first-generation college student in his family.
Ang’s peer, Lee, is also from an underprivileged family, raised by a single parent. After SPM, Lee went around to look for college options. Same as Ang, financial affordability is his top priority.
“Other colleges have higher tuition fees. Even with scholarships, the expenses would be a burden to my family. Most colleges only offer full scholarships for straight-A students.” Nearly hitting straight-A’s, Lee missed one subject to receive full benefits from most colleges.
“At ViTrox College, I am also eligible for the Need-Based Scholarship on top of the Merit Scholarship. These scholarships help cover all of my tuition fees.”
The Need-Based Scholarship, supported and sponsored by ViTrox Foundation, serves as financial aid for the underprivileged, including those who are of low-income financial standing, handicapped or differently abled, living in rural areas, etc. Recipients of the Need-Based Scholarship are secured with employment upon graduation.
We firmly believe that education holds the key to unlocking and unleashing the potential of individuals and communities. Our commitment to nurturing talent is not just a token gesture, but a conscious effort to give back to society and create a net-positive impact. We understand that every individual represents a world of possibilities, and by supporting education, we can ignite a brighter future for all. Let's work together to create a world where education is a beacon of hope for generations to come.
